The World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) is part of the Olympic Movement under AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport) and operates as the sole international governing body for armwrestling and para-armwrestling.
WAF is a full member of AIMS, an organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
WAF is the International Federation recognised by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for para-armwrestling.
Armwrestling, governed by WAF, is a recognised sport by FISU (International University Sports Federation).
WAF-governed armwrestling is included in major multi-sport events, including:
- World Combat Games
- All Africa Games
- Asian Youth Para Games
- Nomad Games
WAF is compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA Code Compliant).
The World Armwrestling Federation was recognised by GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations) during the period in which GAISF served as the global association for International Federations, confirming the rigorous international evaluation of WAF’s governance and sporting standards.
WAF is also a member of SportAccord, which today serves primarily as an international sports convention and networking platform.
